I’ve never been present for a pre-layoff pep talk like this one. The last time I got laid off, we were told three weeks ahead that it might be coming, management kept us in the loop on developments, and nothing was sugar-coated; it was a really pleasant way to lose my job, actually, to be treated like a human being.
