I can sympathize. Some of the more florid fonts leave me scratching my head.
It’s obviously an older couple, as cursive isn’t taught anymore.

And outside on a beach.
My spouse and I missed a wedding by a week because the invite was written in an unreadable cursive script on a scroll that kept rolling itself back up.

I’ve printed everything in capital letters for 40 years. It’s just as fast as cursive, and the goal is readability.
At least they’ll have a reason for not going.
