You folks commenting on dime pay phones and 3/4 century old sayings should remember this strip is set in the mid-20th century when those things were current.

First time I’ve seen this strip, but its eerily similar to Bill Watterson’s “Calvin and Hobbs” in both style and content. Have any legal issues arisen?…

It’s been years since you could use a dime to make a call (even if you can find a pay phone).

runar, this is set in the 1950s, try to pay attention.

hogans, Brian Bassett’s style is quite distinct from Bill Watterson’s (honed from his years of penning his other creation, Adam@Home). Also, Red is older than Calvin, living in a different decade, having an older brother, and his closest friend is not imaginary; and his personality couldn’t be much more different from Calvin’s. The similarities are few and superficial.

Sorry to disappoint you all. It was set in the mid- to late-60’s when phone calls were a dime and Star Trek was on the tube in first run, as witnessed by the many strips that refer to Star Trek and those other 60’s shows.
