I don’t think many dogs the size of Rover would stay in a cardboard box.

I love the Ozzie and Harriet retro look, Dad dressed casual mom in dress and heels sitting on 50s/60s era furniture!

Based on the cultural references over the years, I have pinpointed the year setting as 1970, plus or minus a small margin of error.

How come some of you who are worried about Rover never have commented on how he gets home from the bus stop at the corner. Give it a break and enjoy the story.

I like the fact Mom and Dad are sitting next to each other on the sofa! Not something you’d see on today’s “situation” comedies, where “Dad” is living with his girlfriend and “Mom” is in a relationship with another woman! And God only knows where the kids are or what they are doing!

Upon further reflection, I think Mom and Dad know where Rover is and are just humoring Red. I mean, some of us are worried here, but we don’t need to be, I think.

Jeez, until I saw today’s strip, I had no idea Red And Rover was set in the fifties. The clothing style of Red’s parents and furniture almost jumped off the page at me!

I still want another Red and Rover book.I have two on Kindle.
