What is with the Grand Canyon today? The Baldo strip also had one.

Red and Rover reenact May 20, 1999: Montana’s hometown legion ROBBIE Knievel on his Honda CR500 motor cross clears 228 feet across the Grand Canyon.

BSU did a Home Coming skit with a tricycle, reenacting Evils Snake River jump. They jumped a small irrigation ditch that runs through the campus. Diver in the water, Cops standing guard for crowd control, the works. Only difference is the “stunt-man” on the tricycle made it all the way across. I really wish I could find a tape of it, it was hilarious.

Someone is going to be in deep “doo-doo” and it’s not going to be Rover.

I did this on my bike in 1968..we didn’t call it the Grand Canyon….we called it the edge of death(a four foot jump) onto the volleyball court at 4th ave Jr High..If the bike held together and we didn’t fall off and crash…good times

Why do you have to nitpick on the details of the era? Why can’t you just enjoy the strip for what it is – a sweet story of a boy and his devoted dog.

LOVE the shift lever on the bike — I had one of those! Made any of three or four cool sounds every time you “shifted.”

@troy, @Nun, the helmet looks suspiciouslly like a football helmet. My brothers and I used our fake team helmets for everything!
