Red: Rats. One week till Halloween and our pumpkin is hardly big enough to carve. Rover: Didn't you say the Piggly Wiggly in town had lots of ginormous pumpkins out front? Red: Fine- but this had better not show up on my NASA application, because I'm not a quitter!! Rover: But you also once said astronauts must be able to adapt to adverse circumstances.

Were dogs actually thinking the word “ginormous” back in the 60s/70s? I was under the impression it was only more recently that it came into widespread use, at least among humans.

Ah, Piggly Wiggly, where the deli stuff was always fresh and great. We’re talking 1977 or so. Wonder how many readers know/knew what the term meant in the strip?
