The annual Oktoberfest Beer Festival in Munich, Germany, originated as Prince Ludwig of Barvaria's 16 day wedding party in 1810. Garrett Doherty from Dublin, Ireland, is a backwards running champion- he's able to run a mile backwards in under 7 minutes, and a half marathon in 1 hour 30 minutes. The larvae of the palm weevil, a 4 inch long fat grub, is harvested by many South American tribes as an excellent source of nutrients, and is usually eaten pan fried.

Grubs: a disgusting, yet good source of protein. Just ask Andrew Zimmern.

To people from that part of the world, grubs ARE real food.
And to people in other countries, some of the food we eat in our everyday lives is just as weird and disgusting…

You haven’t met big enough frogs! A good frog leg has a good bit of meat and very little bone. In the right areas, their very easy to harvest with a strong flashlight, a 6’ stick, and a net on a pole, plus a bag to keep them in when they recover from being knocked out.

Sauteed in butter and garlic, I find frog legs quite tasty. If your date doesn’t eat them, too, don’t expect romance afterward.

butter and garlic make just about anything palatable.

I wonder how Doherty would look if you rewound a video of him running.

Ok, as long as it’s just the larvae, then.
