    I think more correctly this refers to solar concentrators, not solar panels.

    The point of using alternative sources of energy is NOT to compete, but to provide means to use LESS of that traditionally produced energy. It has taken 150 years to get to this point – we can make this transition in considerably less time, regardless of the traditional energy cos. efforts to deny, dismiss, and outrightly bad-mouth any alternative forms of energy production, desperate as they are to maintain their almost monopolistic control over it, and its profits. Never mind the trolls, and keep on keepin’ on …

    I doubt it’s the kind of photovoltaic panels you’re envisioning. There are solar farms that use mirrors that aim the light at a central point. Near that target the temperature and light become extreme. That’s more likely to be the type that’s killing birds.
