Fifteen -year-old British sailor Wenman Wykeham-Musgrave survived torpedo attacks on three different ships that were sunk and one hour off the Dutch coast on September 22, 1914, during World War I. A blue whale can swallow half 1 million calories in one mouthful! Geoff Smith of England spent 142 days buried underground in a beer garden in 1999.

lucky lad Wenman was. As for Geoff… I wonder why.

If that bad luck SOB tried to crawl aboard my ship I’d kick his butt off.

I thought Blue Whales eat plankton. How much of that stuff is around for one mouthful?

They wouldn’t let Wenman on the fourth ship.

Wenman Wykeham-Musgrave was a crewman aboard the British armored cruiser HMS Aboukir. On September 22, 1914, Aboukir was on patrol with her sister ships HMS Hogue and HMS Cressy when the German submarine U-9 torpedoed her. Hogue and Cressy were both torpedoed in succession as they stopped to render assistance; over 1,400 men died in this disaster. Wenman wound up being rescued for the final time by a Dutch trawler that came up to help the survivors.

Even though underground, there must of have been beer (and air etc.) in the garden so it was not much of a hardship. This would be Andy Capp’s normal way of enduring 4½ months of winter if the Jolly Riveter was two floors down!

Dear NeedaChuckle thank you for the misinformation. I didn’t know, until after a little research that plankton is a mixture of plants and animals whereas grass is a plant. Again thank you:)

A 21st Century torpedo with a nuclear warhead could destroy an entire war-fleet. A really, really nasty nuclear warhead housed in cobalt would kill everybody and everything in the blast radius and beyond . . . for ten thousand years. They call them doomsday weapons. AND NO I’M NOT BRAGGING – I’M SCARED:(

The Blue or Sulfur bottom whale is the largest animal on planet Earth to ever live.
