Wenman Wykeham-Musgrave was a crewman aboard the British armored cruiser HMS Aboukir. On September 22, 1914, Aboukir was on patrol with her sister ships HMS Hogue and HMS Cressy when the German submarine U-9 torpedoed her. Hogue and Cressy were both torpedoed in succession as they stopped to render assistance; over 1,400 men died in this disaster. Wenman wound up being rescued for the final time by a Dutch trawler that came up to help the survivors.

A 21st Century torpedo with a nuclear warhead could destroy an entire war-fleet. A really, really nasty nuclear warhead housed in cobalt would kill everybody and everything in the blast radius and beyond . . . for ten thousand years. They call them doomsday weapons.
