    In small quantities, arsenic is not dangerous and in the long run, one becomes accustomed and can withstand large quantities

    I’ve read that arsenic is an essential trace element – with emphasis on trace. (Can not say same for lead or mercury) In the mid-west there used to be a problem with goiters. The problem was traced to a lack of iodine, which is why we now have iodized salt. (problem not noted on coast due to more ocean fish in diets)

    Goiter is a large lump in the throat, common up to about 1950 but rarely seen today. Wonder if too much iodine would be as harmful as excess arsenic?
