Didn’t I once read that the Golden State Ltd, after a 100 mile run, a chicken was found sitting on one of the trucks? And wasn’t there an incident once where a train hit a car and a child was found alive on the front steps of the loco? And another incident where a car hit a moving train and was not noted until the next stop and a bumper fell off?
It is actually true, that was the intended purpose. After a couple of trials, it was deemed too dangerous and the plan to use it for that was scrapped.
