p.s. It peeves me no end that clothing manufacturers and shoe makers use that asinine “sizing” system. Why not just give the measure in centimeters or millimeters as done in Japan and South Korea?
The odd bird-beak masks, hats, and cloaking worn against the plague are strangely like modern protective outfits worn by those attending people afflicted with highly contagious diseases. The “plague doctors” also used long sticks that allowed them to examine the sick without actually touching them.
At some perhaps unconscious level, they knew to avoid touch, to protect their entire bodies from contact, even to cover the eyes with lens-like protectors. And though modern protective suits might include a high grade breathing filter or even a self-contained air supply, their predecessors featured the long beaked masks with protruding snouts stuffed with aromatic herbs believed to have protective value.
But can you imagine being sick, covered with plague buboes, almost certain that you were dying… and then to look up and see the “doctor” arrive in this nightmare outfit? Doubtless a dreadful sight.
I break-in my feet to the new shoes as the calluses usually need to move into new locations. Cloth tape [sometimes with a rubber tape to give extra padding] on the affected area helps to avoid blisters before the callus can form.

Has Her Majesty been having that employee since her enthroning? (What’s the UK size if she’s US 6?)

Not washing and bathing with soap while using fragrances instead also spread the disease.

Shoe Breaker Inner: Did she buy any new shoes yet?
Queen’s official: Not yet.
SBI: But it’s been almost 3 months.
QO: What can I say; you did too good of a job on the last pair.
SBI: Thank God I’m on salary.

Queen doesn’t want to admit she is size 7.5; has woman with size 8 feet break in size 6 shoes.

Hasn’t the whole “Royalty” thing run it’s course? Why does one kowtow to a person who did nothing to deserve it other to be born in the right family?

Actually the “bad smell/air” thing carries some logic to me.

The belief that air that smelled bad caused disease gave us the name of the disease malaria.

With feet that tiny, the question arises whether she had her feet bound in childhood, like the old Chinese custom.
