You can romanticize the lemonade stand all you want, but you have no idea what condition the kitchen that produced the lemonade was in. You also don’t know how many times dirty, sticky, licked fingers/hands were placed in the lemonade before you got it. Does it still sound appealing and like something you want your darling little 5 year old to drink?
I remember saving my babysitting money ($.25/hour) to buy a Cherry Ames (a nurse with an AMAZING number of adventures) book every month. They were a buck. What an exhilerating feeling!
