    - Clark Kent – Not true regarding owning real estate in Hawaii. It’s a two sided issue there based in the fact that land is so expensive. First, it’s cheaper per month to lease the land for 50 years (or more) and then build a home on it than to purchase it outright. Second, the owners prefer leasing because it maintains their capital and turns it into an income stream. As with most leases, be it cars or homes or offices or software, it’s not about some government or corporate control – it’s about money, both in the short term and the long term.http://www.alohacoastrealty.com/wordpress/2008/03/08/what-is-this-thing-called-leasehold-in-hawaii/

The privatization of water. Water. Everyone should be on the lookout for this sort of abuse. We need to find a way to pull out of this nosedive and get the “Leaders” working for US again.
