From most of the US, and most of other countries, digging straight through the Earth will bring you out in an ocean, ie the Indian Ocean west of Australia for the US. The only two significant land masses opposite each other are a large part of China being opposite a large part of South America. But really, who wants to dig through 7,000 miles of molten rock?
