This joke is as old as the hills. It was first used in London England in Punch magazine around 1900, then in the Greta Garbo 1939 movie “Ninotchka”, and later on television by Red Skelton. I hope that the writers of this strip are not claiming it for themselves. There is nothing newer than something old and long forgotten.
Actually, it goes back farther than that. It was first used at the Bethlehem Cafe. Jesus had asked for a “Kona coffee and hold the goat milk” but the waiter being a smart-ass, said; “sorry we’re outta
