When I was a kid, somebody named Alben Barkley was the Vice President.

Alben Barkley was from my home state, Kentucky!

President, shmesident. When I was a kid some guy named Tutenkhamen ran things.

For your edificationThe “Air Force One” call sign was created after a 1953 incident during which a Lockheed Constellation named Columbine II carrying President Dwight D. Eisenhower entered the same airspace as a commercial airline flight using the same call sign.

Alben Barkley was a western Kentucky native, who was referred to as the Veep, a nickname his grandson gave him. To Nixon’s credit when became vice president, a journalist called the Veep, to which Nixon said, No, that is Alben Barkley. Barkley served as senator following his vice presidency.

And when you visited the White House and knocked on the front door, the President answered and welcomed you in.

I believe this was back when Reagan was running the show…
