Were the headphones “necessary” because of the opera? or his girlfriend? or just because it’s him?

All of the above!

While I’m not a fan of Richard Wagner’s works. I like Opera, especially Gioachino Rossini and Giuseppe Verdi. Even Mozart wrote Opera. Comic Opera is good too. Die Fledermaus is fun to watch. Not to mention the works of Gilbert and Sullivan.

The noisy tenants in the apartment above mine are enough reason to use noise-cancelling headphones.

I was enamored with this girl once who badly wanted to go see the Pittsburgh Ballet. The closer it came to actually going, the less enamored I got with the girl, lol. I sold the tix, went to a Pirates game instead and broke up. I kept seeing a Lockhorns-like future. :)

Mrs. Baker and I had season passes to the local symphony until we both fell asleep during a Wagner opera. Now, we fall asleep during Netflix marathons.

Philistine! Take her to see “Tommy” or “J.C. Superstar”.

Another opera hater. I wonder if they actually try listening to the music or simply hate being thought of as a la-di-da toff.

I really appreciate the beautiful voices of opera singers, but never have liked operas.

Opera is when a guy gets stabbed and instead of bleeding he sings.
