This is a view into that time that I think we can all understand. We take so for granted in this day of ADM and ConAgra the provision of “the best butter” and the availability of cream that the day of the local dairy and what It offered on a day-to-day basis is long gone. But it’s OK. What we make up for in quantity we lack in quality.
My mother used to tell me how the cream would rise to the top of the milk bottle when it was left out in the snow by the milkman. They would then eat the cream off the top.

Ah, but it does make me feel old to remember the milkman coming by every day, and our milk box outside the door.
