I can remember Unitas in the last two minutes, the go-ahead touchdown drive, being sacked by about 8 guys. You would see his hands coming out of the pile, calling for a time out. Seemed to happen in every game.
Then there was Jimmy Brown, staggering back to the huddle as though both legs were broken, and then blasting through on the next play for another ten yard gain.
Brown was incredible - he’s paying for it now, though. Did you see him at the Browns’ game last w/end? Barely able to stand, using a cane, never saw him take a step. Bo Jackson’s actually lucky he had that career ending injury so soon- saved him a lot of wear and tear, and that the joint replacement technology was so advanced, and available .
