Rumor was the Native American translation of Bobby Cox’s name was “Loses With Talent.” If so, then the Spanish-to-English translation of Ozzie Guillen’s name is, “Loses With Talent While Also Putting His Foot in His Mouth.”
A new ballpark won’t make a difference. Miami is (and always has been) a lousy city for baseball as a spectator sport. Lots of good players come from Florida, but nowhere in the state have people historically filled the stands for a game.
Having a large metropolitan population is not enough, but people keep looking at that #8 market in the USA and think a given sport will succeed…perhaps by a sort of reverse attrition (“Well, there are so many people living there, SOME of them have to want to catch a game”).

There are no bad markets; only bad owners.
