Football more than basketball because more play football than basketball. Of course, when high schools/ colleges/universities, as well as the court system, do nothing to punish the miscreants, those miscreants consider themselves to be above the law. Too many “yes’s” and not enough “no’s” are spoken.

High school kids who can play excellent football are treated like royalty—in fact they are treated like that kid in England, I forget his name, who has his butt wiped for him. This continues in college and the pros (and not only for football), and they are taught they truly can get away with anything.
Regardless of the number of players in high level football vs basketball, the real point is that they get the rock star treatment, and in too many cases, it goes to their heads. The young man comes to think that because a lot of women will throw themselves at him, all women want him; that because he can get a way with a lot of bad behaviour, he can get away with anything.
They may get away with the violence, but if they get caught smoking a PED like Cannabis, you’d think they shot someone. Does anyone not see the hippocracy here?
Why is everyone just thinking about two sports? Football and Basketball are not the only sports out there. And violence against women exists everywhere. Not just in sports.
