It was home to Heath Kit, which started with a homebuilt aircraft (Heath Parasol) which used a Ford Model A engine; made squigglescopes during WW-II, and electronic kits after (with their kits, you could build your own TV or computer). More recently, the town was site of a park some millionaire wanted for a private golf course, and so became the first town in the US to be ruled by a Gauleiter rather than the people.
