I nominate the brain-dead, NO-life, LOSERS who still support the NFL.

The Sports Jerks play a valuable role. Parents can point to them and tell their children, “Don’t be like that ungrateful idiot.”

Players or owners? There’s different levels of jerkiness for both. I’d lump Urban Meyer on the owner side, as SJOY. But actual legal indictments disqualify a person right?

Shouldn’t that be his Tanky sense?

It’s going to be a hard choice this year to pick the one “SJY” who contributed the most, negatively to his or her sport. There are, unfortunately, sooo many choices.

The posturing and peccadillos in sports pale by comparison to the political poltroons and pilgarlics.

How does one nominate someone?

Jerry Jones. He needs a lifetime jerk award just for existing.

I nominate Mary Bono, the former president of USA Gymnastics, who had to resign in disgrace.

It’s nice to see classical references in literature every once in a while.

Gary Bettman for rolling over for the Vegas Knights and Roger Goodell because he is Roger Goodell.

I expected to see a footnote honoring the late Stan Lee.
