Unlikely these are edited now. The Cuban missile crisis was the year before this strip, the Cold War was in full swing so it seems the comics didn’t want to be seen as overt propaganda, but we had them figured already for Soviets, lots of clues.

And isnt it nice that Dick mimicked the action of a tentacle reaching out for us? Visual aids are always nice.

But the best detail is that they carry an ID that says “Agent of the USSR” or words to that effect!

@henebryI bet it said “Caution, Secret Enemy Agent. Do not report if killed.”

So now “Dick” has tentacles! Well, well…the story becomes more convoluted as we expect other tentacles reaching out for Tarzan, Dick, and the oil map. The game’s afoot Tarzan so you’d best make tracks and find that black gold!Meanwhile, what do you suppose Jane is doing in big town Nairobi. still at the mall? Probably not, more Russkies seeking leverage will probably kidnap her as usual, and Tarzan will have to bail her out! Very exciting, eh? :)> TentacleGowa!!
