    He also wrote the music for the best known version of “I Heard the Bells on Chrstimas Day,” whose words were written during the Civil War by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow — the guy who did “Song of Hiawatha,” “The Ride of Paul Revere,” and “Evangeline.”
