I live on the central Oregon coast, right in the middle of where totality makes landfall.

IF the marine layer doesn’t come up over us, and the sky stays clear, i should be able to see the shadow of the moon approach us across the ocean.

That according to an astronomer that i met a couple of years ago who was doing a video blog about it.

I live within walking distance of a bluff where i can put that to the test.

Too far to go for totality for me. It will be about 65% here in Los Angeles. I will be going to the Griffith Observatory. I will be taking the special DASH bus from the Sunset/Vermont Metro Station in Hollywood.

The brief bit of coolness is nice too.

I have begun the sacrifices to appease the great Dragon of the Sky. Hopefully he will be merciful before I run out of volunteers.

I have to work. I don’t care what meeting they expect me to attend, I’m going to be outside. Of course, we only get a partial and it might rain.
