you’re late baby,, the stores have been playing christmas tunes for over a week here, and I’m in Canada!

It began weeks ago.

My store started before Halloween. I was singing “What’s this” from Nightmare Before Christmas (cause that’s what it felt like)!

Many years ago, there was a mall near here that had a haunted house for Halloween, but they started playing Christmas music on October 1st. The guy who owned the beauty salon next to the haunted house told me that, between the screams and Rudolph playing every five minutes, he felt like he was trapped in a bad holiday – themed horror movie.

Advent starts the fourth Sunday before Christmas Day. Christmas goes from December 25 thru January 5 (The Twelve Days of Christmas). Then come Epiphany thru to Shrove Tuesday (Mardi Gras). Then Lent starts on Ash Wednesday. Then Eastertide comes and lasts seven weeks. Then comes Pentecost.

Contrary to popular belief, Jingle Bells is not a Christmas song. It was written as a traveling song for Thanksgiving. Singing about riding in a one-horse open sleigh in the snow.
