I am not entirely sure on the 60s film, because I think back then they had to scale Godzilla and King Kong equally in size, since Godzilla was much bigger than him then, but Adam Wingard when asked about the obvious difference in height between Godzilla and King Kong in 2018 said this, "When asked about the apparent height difference between Godzilla and Kong in 2018, Adam Wingard said “They gave us a good out in Kong: Skull Island (2017) when they mentioned that Kong is still growing, but that’ll be a challenge we have to deal with, and we’re very aware of that issue.”
