My favorite of Gorey’s work is “The Gashleycrumb Tinys”, a grim alphabet of children meeting their ends in various whimsically gruesome ways. “A is for Alice, who fell down the stairs…B is for Basil, devoured by bears…” etc. Dark humor at it’s finest!
