Archie Bunker called it “Brupper”.

Dinner may also refer to the 4-10pm meal. I really don’t understand why people eat at 10pm and than go to bed. Your body doesn’t digest as well when you’re sleeping. It’s why I’ve stopped eating at around 9pm and do a bit of exercise at 11pm.

In the Navy, the enlisted men eat breakfast, dinner and supper while the officers have breakfast, lunch and dinner. No idea why, but AFAIK it’s always been that way.

We usually called it “lupper.” Weeknight meal is supper. Dinner is the noon meal on Sunday, but my family is from the south.
