We have an assortment that kids can choose from (we don’t get many). Last year a girl got excited because we had apple sauce (one of those sipper packages).
Going door to door on Halloween has become a lost rite in my neighborhood. Now they go to parks and churches.
I remember setting up a church to do an All Hallows Eve party and teach the kids about a children’s program at the church. The program, called Royal Ambassadors, or just RAs, had two mottos, “Help Others in Jesus’ Name” and “Go Forward in Jesus Name.”
I devised two perilous tasks that the kids had to perform in order to get to the treats. In the first task, the kids had to get help to cross the first room thus, helping others in Jesus name. In the second task the kids had to go forward to the door that led to the treats. But, there was an optional door. They might choose to take the optional door since there were all manner of scary things between the entrance and the good door. If they chose the easier optional door, they had to start all over.
The party was a great success and eventually, all the kids got to the good door and the treats therein.

At least they aren’t certificates indicating that a donation to something-or-other was made in their “name”.

Some granola or health bars are actually delicious. Assuming they are giving THOSE out and not carrot sticks. LOL

Our Trick Or Treat was canceled this year due to weather (high winds and snow). Now I’m stuck with 40 full size Snickers Bars.
