The natives’ name for the large, elusive spider living in the deepest parts of the jungle was translated into Latin as arachnid pachydermus, but scientists had never seen it, until now, and assumed it fed on insects and small rodents.

The elephants never knew what got them.

@ Dutchboy1, that is dust kicked up from a stampede or morning jog. I don’t think anyone credit’s Mr. Hilburn as a great artist. Just a funny one.

I guess I, too, am one of the old tottering folks who immediately thought of the sinatra song….. but if you are younger than sixty and still relate…..well, cool!

There is hardly a ‘toon that a Sinatra song cannot be used in some fashion. Except - Mr Grinch….

Scott; I don’t think there is that much “POWER OF POSITIVE THINKING” in the world! But there’s a LOT of “try” in that little spider!

HolySmoke-That is the first thing that popped into my mind also. I am a long-time fan of The Far Side.

MIstletoad, I’m still in my 40s and know that song. I think I even saw the movie a long time ago from whence that came. “Hole in the Head” was very sad, as I remember. I saw the movie just because I knew the song was in it and was curious to see how it fit in.

One of those “gotcha” moments!
