And it runs on coal. But you never see the coal. And we are going to cut the coal out, so expect it to be more expensive to operate. And those power cells are filthy and destructive, but that all happens somewhere else, too. The question is, are you green enough to buy it.
Actually, if you take out the gov’t subsidy it’s actually $60,000 dollars. Electric is a scam, and people buy into it because they want to act like they actually care.
They used to make electric cars that were cheap, about $2500 if i recall. Of course, there weren’t suitable for all tasks, as they only had an official range of 50 miles a day (more like 30, much less at night), and a top speed of 35 mph (more like 30 most of the time). To be honest, they were a golf cart with a hard top, but for a lot of things, that is all you need. Today they can’t make cars like that. A car has to be able to do all things, and it has to have airbags, side impact resistance, etc, so electric cars are $40k+. The funny thing is, those 1970s Citicars still sell on ebay from time to time for about what they cost new.
You have to compare using dirty fossil fuels or “where do we put the waste” nuclear. You can’t use wind, sun, tide, waves, hydro, OTEC, or any clean system or you can’t put down acting responsibly. Why? Because your local private profit electric monopoly won’t use them. Their rates are set on a cost plus basis and the higher the cost, the more plus they can pocket.

Funny how much more efficient steam and electric cars were before the infernal combustion lobby got their monopoly!
