I remember when Sputnik was launched. My folks took me to Dairy Queen for ice cream and there was a group of people standing around looking at a bright object in the sky and talking about it. I didn’t have the heart to tell them it was Venus.
Interesting fact: The Sun is a star. There are lots of stars, but the Sun is the closest one to Earth. It is the center of our solar system. The Sun is a hot ball of glowing gases….Google
You wouldn’t see a galaxy of stars 80 million light years away without some optical aid, stars can be seen thousands of light years distant (Deneb in Cygnus is possibly the brightest far distant naked eye star at around 3 – 5000 LY) but 80 million LY is a little far.

I’m more inclined to believe Stan than windbag Rory.

I’m glad he wasn’t talking about Uranus….aren’t all planets considered “stars” though?

From Venus, a telescope view of Earth, if viewed just after midnight, would just show yesterday.

The ‘shooting star’ of Cudahy is Victor Venus, but he usually is less than 7 miles from earth.
I think Hagen’s flocks hit the ‘Williams Wall’ skid; I suppose ‘Serena’ is an unstable star that’s 81 million light years away.

Why did you let Stan go on that long if you knew that, Rory?
