Which is easier to do: Cut and paste the Declaration of Independence, or read the document and understand the underlying history that lead to its coming to exist?
By the way, Jimjammer, Jefferson thought a constitution was out of date after 19 years. (In his time, roughly a generation.) He felt it should be reviewed and amended, if not replaced, regularly as times and a nation’s needs changed. He may have been right. Think on this: If it were perfect as it was written when adopted, then all those amendments over the years were for what purpose?
To those who don’t like the cartoonist’s expression, please revisit the First Amendment.
