Only funny in that ironic way. A doctor said something similar to me age 50 because I had had a life-long atrial septal defect (ASD, a hole the size of a quarter between the top two heart chambers) and that literal open heart surgery would be needed to graft a wall for it or suffer an inevitable stroke. And that I had been lucky that the stroke had not happened in the last 15 years or so. The “funny” part is in how the situation was adaptable from Hemingway and John Donne.
