BS, and typical Tea Party nonsense. The state has done quite well, actually. Some of us like decent roads, consistent laws, quality controls on our water and air, reliable power grids and dependable public services. We like public education for all, dependable mail service, and a strong defense capability. What we DON’T like are lazy citizens who can’t be bothered to participate, rarely vote, try to enact term limit laws so they don’t have to do their duty to vote out politicians who aren’t doing their jobs, support big corporations that, without a strong state, would grind the average citizen into the dirt in the name of profit, and then bitch and whine about bad ol’ gubmint and how better off we’d be without it. BS in a bucket.

@sammysock – I’m pretty sure that establishing a theocracy in the US would pretty much violate the First Amendment. Seriously, saying that government bodies should not offer sectarian prayer at the start of meetings is not saying that people who follow those faiths can’t pray on their own prior to the start of the meetings.
