Well, I was going to say the non-plastic parts would be okay, but actually when I think about it, you can fry ice cream or butter. The coating protects the product from the hot oil and the process is so quick the product doesn’t heat up. A better question is, why am I even thinking about this?
I remember (back in the 70’s) going to work at a KFC just a week after someone had tricked a robber into dropping his pistol into the crispy fryer. The fryer had been partly destroyed by the gun’s bullets exploding. Since I wasn’t there, and since no one who was was willing to discuss it at any depth, I still don’t know all of the details.

In all fairness, this should completely ruin the thing’s usefulness, so I’m not sure what the real problem is…
