Best Argument Ive heard Put every unemployed auto worker back to work building a nationwide rail system!! The project would be completed in 25 years providing safe reliable mass transit for millions!! And thwarting the ugly scenario of hordes for aging baby boomers fighting to keep their car keys! You'll have to pry them from my cold dead hands!! Thats what we're worried about.

How would they get to the train station from home, bicycle? Walk? Someone’s car, but not necessarily theirs.

I have written a few letters to Secretary Pete concerning this very topic. High speed national rail, not boomers with wheels.

Before my dad passed, we had to deal with the driving issue. He had Alzheimer’s, he could drive but if he was more than a couple of blocks from the house, he was lost. I wound up being his personal driver. I figured that when I was a baby he had to clean my bottom, the least I can do is drive for him now that he has reverted to his childhood.
