With the Jets leading 32-29 with only 65 seconds left in the game, NBC executives attempted to reach their broadcast operations unit to extend coverage of the game but were unable to reach them in time to delay the cutover or reinstate coverage before the game ended. In the meantime, the Raiders came back and scored 14 points, winning 43-32. As a result, no fan following the game on TV was able to see Oakland’s comeback live.
LLeRay and Sheik…, I wish you hadn’t spilled the beans so quickly. It would’ve been fun to see what comments people made first. You got the joke, so did I, good for us, but why not let people that didn’t have the fun of figuring it out?
The fun is in getting it, not in thrashing around trying to figure it out without a clue as to what it means. Even though I remember the incident, I appreciate LL’s and SY’s explanations. I might like to be reminded when it was, but not enough to look it up myself.

If we ignore the pervasive & insidious encroachment of their agenda into even our gentle, innocent comics, then sadly, the NFL-ists have won.

If I had TV, I wouldn’t have been watching the game anyway. Now if it had been hockey….

Thanks for the explanation, as I’m not a sports fan and didn’t know about the NFL Heidi.
I thought they loaded grandpa into the existential Heidi
