Never seen “Saturday Night Live” but I don’t find much to laugh about on TV, anyway. The Empire? Yes, that’s gone but it took too much work to sustain it.

Now Queen Vicky has the time to appear on TV and enjoy her hobbies. More 2001, A Bugs Oddity, please.

We were amused when the Queen gave away a former colony. She would have a big smile and I could almost hear her think: “Thank God we got rid of another.”

Her Maj’s monologue may not be funny, but it will still be funnier than the rest of the show. SNL hasn’t been good since the early ‘90’s. Tina Fey excepted.

Her Majesty may take comfort in the fact that [revisionist politically correct history aside] the British Empire and colonialism in general were positive forces.

The last time I watched SNL was probably before cable TV. And I also watched TW3 and Smothers Brothers,

John Wayne was on Laugh In, he read the following poem:

“Roses are red, Grass is green. Get off your butt and join the Marines!”

Oops! Timewarp! As long as someone doesn’t come back and recall the days of the good old Home Service. Sunday afternoons with Jimmy Clitheroe. THAT was DREADFUL…..”Where’s me shirt?” No, still not funny.

    I was a Round the Horne freak.. Laugh-in didn’t get a look-in.
