if the world ends on 12/21/12, wouldn’t places like samoa, new zealand, australia, eastern siberia, etc….die first? or, does it have to happen 8am on the west coast with john cusack driving a limo through a building? If it does, then those places like australia would end on 12/22/12, which makes the 12/21 prophecy seem lame.
If we are to believe such an hypothesis, the date and time at the Mayan capital would be appropriate.
The original calendar is due to run out only because the Mayan civilisation died before the stone masons could get a new batch to the temples (pre Gutenberg).

Before the apocalypse you still have Valentines Day, Memorial Day sales, 4th of July sales, Labor Day sales, my birthday to buy for…….

Why would anyone shop for the end of the world? It’s not like the gifts would last very long.
