I love doing that myself…. But only if the bookstore is Barnes & Noble, or Books-a-Million, one of the mega-chain stores with an embedded coffee bar — instead of an old-school bookstore that only, you know, sells books.

I’d be very happy living in the Books-a-Million in my town!

But… you can do that with an e-reader in a bookstore, too. Barnes&Noble among several others allow you to download a book and read it as much as you want IN the store, but it vanishes once you leave the store’s signal. Nice idea, IMHO

If you want to read a book without buying it go to the library.

Chapters allows people to sit and read without buying. Grubby fingerprints. Though the Starbucks people in the store are very nice.
