Many of the shops here (not food places, though) allow leashed dogs, and some even keep treats for them. At least one drive-in restaurant even gives the dog a treat.
Which is the reason animals, unless working (guide dogs for example) are not permitted in restaurants, grocery stores and similar markets. .On the other hand, or is that leg? I was startled when something deliberately brushed up against my leg before leaving HMV. Golden Retrievers are so friendly. (I had no idea he was in the store)
One day we were eating at Taco Bell, and my kids pointed out that the lady near by had a Chihuahua. His head kept poking up from time to time, and she would smile and push him down. She never got caught :-D

Well, would you want cat hair in your food? No? Then why would you think we would want dog hair all over the food in those shops? :-s
