    Ah! Nothing like one’s imagination! I used to watch Saturday afternoon Chinese television when I lived in San Francisco. It was generally a whodunnit with sub-titles in two languages. The English translation was hysterically funny.

    I agree with Grandma. I once had a friend in stitches by insisting that “Yo la soy marinero, soy marinero, soy capitan” meant “I marinated my captain in soy sauce”.

    I used to translate opera for my ex-husband. I was never really sure why that woman was so distraught over being out of macaroni and cheese that she plunged a dagger into her own gut.
