    It is best not to underestimate the effect of chronostasis in the above cartoon. Without chronostasis Snuffy would never have lived to be 147 years old, much less have seen a horse with feathers.

    My mother swore that the wheels turned backwards and no matter how much I tried to explain, no soap. She saw it, she believed it.

    It was the flash rate that caused the appearance of reverse rotation. It is just an optical delusion. Like flying rods. Its all done with shutter speed.

    In my hometown in northwest Oklahoma, where I was born and grew up, I remember cars, trucks, trains and other vehicles with spokes on their wheels. As they went by, the spokes always appeared to go backwards. My mother thought it of it as an “eye effect.”
