If it was a bee, it would be dead by now, so yes, it’s most likely a wasp.
I stepped on a wasp barefoot once. I was lucky enough that I didn’t get stung, but the close call was still enough to convince me to not go out barefoot much anymore after that.
May i have Spud’s share of the honey if he’s not going to eat it?

oh yeah – can relate. Exactly why I don’t walk barefoot in grass anymore :(
