    Dr. Seuss would have been proud, Michael. The only question is whether humankind is stupid enough not to put out the fire in its own house. Gore was one of the earlier birds to tweet-tweet the alarm, and we owe him, but we seem to have an ability to go deaf to truth when we think it’s convenient. Obviously, hiding from reality doesn’t change things. We better act fast. Thanks for this insightful addition to your great work.

    I was reminded of this poem on which Ray Bradbury wrote a great story.

    There Will Come Soft Rains

    There will come soft rains and the smell of the ground,

    And swallows circling with their shimmering sound;

    And frogs in the pools singing at night,

    And wild plum trees in tremulous white,

    Robins will wear their feathery fire

    Whistling their whims on a low fence-wire;

    And not one will know of the war, not one

    Will care at last when it is done.

    Not one would mind, neither bird nor tree

    If mankind perished utterly;

    And Spring herself, when she woke at dawn,

    Would scarcely know that we were gone.

    —Sara Teasdale

    Lived in Southern California back in the late 60’s as a preteen. Couldn’t see across the valley most days from the smog. Coughed up brown stuff for a couple of weeks when we move back to the rural Midwest. When back a few years ago with the wife and the sky was no longer brown, and had no problems with my lungs. It’s amazing what a few years of lowered emissions will do for you.

    Sadly, Gore saying that he “invented” the internet did nothing for his credibility on important issues like pollution.
