Who says it fails in the third panel? It’s perfect. Fink’s problem is the problem of human hypocrisy at all times and places, rich and poor, and of any political stripe.
I’m tempted to say more, but the one thing common to all political parties is that they can see everyone’s weaknesses but their own. That’s one big reason I have no involvement in politics on any level.
With a net worth of $5 million, GW was probably the closest to an “average joe” we’ve seen as president in years. V.S. $100 million for his predecessor and several million for his predecessor.
Could Nabuqudurizhur (how do you pronounce that?!) possibly mean predecessor and successor??

No ones wants a royal snob, unless he’s willing to pay for all of the drinks.
mrsullenbeauty over 14 years ago
I second the second half of Ladywolf’s emotion; if he’s willing to foot the bar tab, the Fink can snob it up all he wants.

Who helped the little Fink upon that bar stool?

A wonderful development of this strip’s venerable “Fellow peasants…” gag.

He certainly had the intelligence of an ‘average’ Joe.

The average joe is considerably smarter.

I love Chimay, and I certainly wouldn’t want the leader of a country to be an ‘average joe’.

What is Chimay? I’m unfamiliar with the name.

Nice idea, Ladywolf, but I read panel two as “I’m the king you want to PAY TO have a beer with!”

^Anything else would be out of character!

@lin4869:
Chimay is a Belgian beer. Great beer actually. Life is too short to drink bottled colored water.

Actually, life is too short to drink yeast waste products.
